ABOUT ME

Born in Sussex, England in 1948, I attended St. Catherine's College, Oxford and the University of Surrey. After about twenty years working for British Telecomm, I solved my mid-life crisis by moving with my wife to Greece in 1994. On the whole, I find teaching English to Greek children a lot more satisfying than statistical analysis of telephone usage (!) and, in spite of the current problems in Greece, we have had no regrets about the move. In 2001, we were baptized into the Orthodox Church, a decision that you will find explained in some of the earlier blogs.

I am the author of 'A Glimpse of Heaven', an introduction to Orthodox churches for visitors to Greece. Unfortunately, because of the publisher recently filing for bankruptcy, this may no longer be easily available. I don't think I was responsible for the collapse of Efstathiadis Press! I have also written a book of saints' lives which is to be published by Conciliar Press sometime next spring. In a strange quirk of fate, this book has already been published in Greek translation by Akritas Press under the title 'Αγιοι, οι Ουράνιοι Φίλοι' (Saints, our Heavenly Friends). I am currently working on a book of Orthodox martyrs of the 20th century and a brief history of the Orthodox Church under Enver Hoxha's rule in Albania.

I don't understand all the settings but suggest you choose anonymous and put your name in the text (unless you really do want to be anonymous!) Name + URL (email address) should also work. Due to increasing Spam comments, I've had to introduce word recognition (CAPTCHA) but don't let that put you off.
